HUNGER OF THE PINE
2023
18.5 x 22 x 45
Pine, Steel, Aluminum & Cotton
Like Frankenstein, Hunger of the Pine was once dead and buried in a pile of discarded furniture doomed to rot in the landfills of humanity. Fortunately for this humble chair it was abandoned on a curb along my morning commute and like the doctor of legend I dug it out of its grave to serve the world once more. But not without some extensive “improvements”. The first in a series of objects believed to have lost their aesthetic place in the world Hunger of the Pine touches on memories of the past while also offering a vision of an unknown future. All wood is original to the chair only sanded and refinished while all metal is a new edition to this classic design. Along with a freshly woven recycled cotton cord seat Hunger of the Pine has been resurrected to exist in the 21st century and beyond.
